Susanne Salavati is a London-based Director of Photography, with diverse experience shooting drama and documentary in a multitude of worldwide locations. She is focused on projects that both challenge her and examine the society we live in.
Susanne's recent work on feature film My Feral Heart has received critical acclaim at Edinburgh International Film Festival citing the cinematography as “lush and striking, imbuing the film with unaffected nobility and elegance”. My Feral Heart won the Audience Award for Best Feature Drama at Cinequest 2016 and has been nominated for 3 British Independent Film Awards (BIFA).
She received the Best Cinematography award at WIFF LA for Indian documentary Unravel, described by Aesthetica as ‘beautifully shot and carefully crafted’. She also earned a Special Mention in the Best Cinematographer category at London Underwire Film Festival for short film Twitcher, applauded for ‘creating an elegant and understated visual track’.
Susanne’s documentary work continues with Off the Grid, which was selected for Aesthetica and Copenhagen International Documentary Festival and her current projects Even When I Fall supported by Sundance and the BFI and BBC series Where in the World.
She has also lit successful commercial campaigns for Benefit San Francisco, The Virgin Group, Tate and 38 degrees. She is a contributor to Getty Images and a member of international and UK based cinematography collectives the ICFC and illuminatrix.
